OwnerFile is a webapp that allows you to complete the new mandatory beneficial ownership information reporting requirements using a simple interface and by answering easy-to-understand questions about your business.
As a result of the passage of the Corporate Transparency Act, a division of the US Treasury called FINCEN has been given the authority to require most businesses to submit information about their owners and managers.
Interestingly, not all owners qualify as “beneficial owners.” Only those holding over 25% of the ownership stake would need to be reported. Beyond that, there are individuals that would qualify as “beneficial owners” who aren’t even owners. These include directors, officers, and some managers. Our tool will help you identify all the right individuals.
We offer several different options for pricing depending on your needs. The pricing table reflects rates for 1-5 businesses. For owners of more than five businesses, or accountants, lawyers, or VC firms looking to bring on a larger number of companies to the platform, contact us for special pricing.
While foreign businesses operating in the US and registered with a state or tribal agency ARE required to file, unfortunately at this time OwnerFile is only working with US-based entities.
In order to get started, we just need some basic information about your business like your name, address, state of original registration/formation, and EIN or tax ID number. From there, if you want to complete the administrative work all we would need are the names and emails of anyone we deem a “beneficial owner.”
We guarantee all filing are submitted within 48 hrs of compilation. The step in the process that will sometimes take the longest is getting all your beneficial owners to complete their submissions. We work with a system of automated reminders to nudge them along.
Yes, in our Alpha version of the product, you’ll receive email notifications every step of the way, from successful data collection to the confirmation of accepted filing. In our app in development, you’ll have live access to a dashboard that tracks your progress across every entity you’re associated with.
While we work with you in filing your initial submission, we also provide year-round support and offer unlimited updates. Compliance with updates is a critical part of this whole process, and we make sure to remind you monthly to send along any changes that need to be reported.
Each subscription is good for one entity, and covers as many beneficial owners and as many updates as are needed in a given year.
